Special Olympics


There are nine official sports at the State Special Olympic Games - Aquatics, Athletics (Track & Field), Bocce, Bowling, Golf, Horseshoes, Powerlifting, 3-on-3 Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball. Two additional programs offered will be Motor Activities (Wheelchair Sports) training program & "Stars of the Future" for children under eight.

We are proud of our Edmond Public School District special needs students who participate in the State Special Olympic Games.

For more information about Special Olympics, please contact your child's special education teacher or go to the State Olympics website (www.sook.org). Athletes must train a minimum of 8 weeks in a sport, and compete at the area/sectional level prior to gaining eligibility to compete at the state level for Winter Games (January in Norman), and Summer Games (May in Stillwater).
