Report Card Letter Home:
Dear Central Families,
“The more help a person has in his garden, the less it belongs to him.” This quote by William Davis so eloquently reflects how important it is for each of us to remember that the young adolescents attending Central are a part of a Central family. Much like a blended family the ole saying, “yours, mine and ours,” is the attitude we have taken together throughout this school year. As community, parents, volunteers, faculty and staff we have worked together and shared the joys that come with educating and raising the youth that will be in charge of our future tomorrows.
Our year has been filled with many ambitions for our students. Just as soon as they have attained one ambition we have seen another one shining a little higher for them to reach. It has been our goal to motivate and challenge them to continue to reach higher, stay the course and finish the tasks at hand. Without ambition life certainly would be dull. May was a month of final efforts – both academically and personally. We ended our year, saying good-bye to friends, reflecting and anxiously anticipating the summer, a time for rejuvenation.
It is hard to believe our year has come to an end. As we close with this last letter of the year, we can celebrate an exciting and eventful year filled with numerous blessings and accomplishments. These accomplishments are reflections of a community of people who together have shared a common goal and contributed to a standard of excellence. They are a reflection of continued hope and belief that together we do make a difference!
Our next school year will be filled with many new beginnings. As we continue to look at ways to meet the academic needs of our students Central Middle School will make application to have a school wide Title I program for the 2010-2011 school year vs. our present targeted assisted program. This will require forming a core planning team who will facilitate a year long study and development of our Title I plan for the school wide program. If you are interested in serving as part of our core planning team, please contact me at 340-2890. It is vital we have our parents support and input with this process.
Another academic initiative we are making is to change our Technology Education program curriculum. We have written and received a grant to fund “Project Lead the Way – Gateway to Technology.” Project Lead the way is a program that emphasizes technology engineering by integrating both math and science into the technology education curriculum. We are excited about this new program as it will bring new challenges and rigor to our already excellent program.
Last but not least, as you enter our halls next fall you will see the beginnings of Central Middle School’s two phase renovation efforts. Yes, thanks to you and the many patrons of our community who continue to pass the bond issues each year, we are getting a much needed face lift. Please note: if you need to access our building this summer our office area will be a construction zone. It will be necessary for you to pay attention to the signs the construction workers have posted and be careful where you walk. Thank you for your patience during our time of construction.
It is our hope for each of our families to have summers filled with rest, relaxation and time together.
