Do the Right Thing when You're Using a Computer!
  • Always cite information source

Copying information from the Internet without citing the source is plagiarism. Students are always expected to do their own work and must avoid using other peoples' work as their own.

  • Download media legally

Artists spend their life creating their music, and it is important that they are rewarded for their efforts. Downloading music illegally from the Internet is stealing, so students need to be sure that all sites from which they acquire audio and video have permission to distribute copyrighted materials.

  • Use only software that has been rightfully obtained.

Downloading software is stealing if specific permission for use hasn't been given. Just because a student's friend bought it, doesn't mean that it can be shared. Viruses can also be hidden in files being shared on the Internet.
