Staying Safe

Following these suggestions can keep everyone safe while on the internet.

  • Ask your parents before you give personal information to anyone on the internet.
  • Don't respond to a message if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
  • Never try to meet with anyone that you've met online unless you talk to your parents first and an adult is with you.

  • Don't believe everything that you read or are told online. Some people purposely try to mislead others, so if something doesn't seem right discuss it with an adult that you trust.

What Can Parents Do To Prevent and Address Cyberbullying?

  • Keep your home computer in easily viewable places.
  • Talk regularly with your child about their online activities.
  • Tell your child you may review his/her online communications if yo think there is a reason for concern.
  • Install parental control-filtering software and /or tracking system.
  • If it occurs, keep evidence of the cyberbullying.
