Our enrollment for 7th grade continues to be around 380 students this year. Pre-enrollment for next year (8th grade) will take place mid-April. That is the time that students request their preferences for elective classes for the following year. FOCUS will continue to be required for those students not scoring proficient on their state tests and for those students not passing their Reading, English, or Math classes.
Parents, P.I.V. (Pinnacle Internet Viewer) is the best way to check your childs' grades between the progress reports, which are sent home every 3 weeks. If you don't have a password for P.I.V., you can pick it up in the front office after showing a photo ID. Grades are updates at least weekly, usually Wednesday evenings.
Students, you can check the website for your class assignments. To do this, click on teams, 7th grade, your team of teachers (701, 702, or 703), then click on your teachers' names, and there you will find assignments. We are using Summit's website this year instead of Homework Hotline.
Honor Society recognition will be held March 30th at 7 p.m in Summit's cafeteria. 7th graders whose semester grades (for the previous two semesters) are in the top 10% of their class will be recognized at an evening ceremony.
State testing for 7th grade will be in April. 7th graders will take the Reading and Math OCCT's and an on-line Geography OCCT (Oklahoma Core Curriculum Test). The testing window begins April 19th. Those 7th graders currently enrolled in Algebra I will additionally take the Algebra EOI (end of instruction) test, May 5th and 6th. Second semester tests (finals) will be the week of May 24th.
