Dear Summit Families,
Second semester is quickly moving by and soon students will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, also known as May. However, we have a lot to accomplish before the end of school and the third nine weeks are the toughest weeks to get through. The days are short, the breaks are few and far between, and the urgency to master each standard and objective fills the halls of schools across our state Summit included. We are in the heart of the curriculum and each day at school is very valuable. Please be mindful and encourage your student not to look past February 24th and the week of April 12th. These are our state testing dates and a valuable tool to ensure your student is mastering the state standards. I ask that you continue to encourage your student to make the most of each day by maximizing the time he or she has with their teacher, completing each assignment and always displaying proper behavior. These are key to being prepared for the yearly assessments.
The second semester will also bring about some fun and exciting activities for the students. Teachers have organized Summit Spirit Week as a fundraiser this year. Money raised will help support DWDW-Make a Wish Foundation. We will also be supporting the Haitian Relief efforts with a goal of purchasing 200 water filters that will be shipped to Haiti.
I am so proud of all the community service effort the students have participated in this year. For example, one team collected hats and gloves, another team collected almost $1400 for the Infant Crisis Center, team 602 collected almost 400 diapers for the babies at the Edmond Hope Center and the list goes on. These are tough times for many members in our community, and with the support of the parents and students at Summit we have made the world a better place for a few in need. Thank you for your support.
Remember, Everyone is Someone at Summit.
