Family and Consumer Science

 “OKLAHOMA-FACS 2007-2008!”

                  As many of you know, the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) program, a part of The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education is well under way at Central Middle School.  We have additional state funding to maintain and improve the equipment in the classroom, as well as provide additional supplies.  This does require meeting some state requirements and additional paper work; however, the rewards are worth the effort!

An additional benefit of this program is that 7^th and 8^th graders have the opportunity to participate in a chapter of Family, Consumer and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).  Through monthly meetings, this extra-curricular club will provide students opportunities to participate in local, state and national competitions, to hold an officer position, to be involved in community service projects, and to meet new students at Central.  The first organizational meeting was held September 5, 7:30 a.m. in the FACS Room #107.

Classes are off to a terrific start for the 2007-2008 school year!  The room is full of excited students ready to pursue adventures and learn new life skills. Please be aware of the classroom rules and safety guidelines.  Your student should have asked you to sign and should have returned a paper with these guidelines.  The concern for your child’s safety is always a priority!  The first and most important rule of the class is “To Be Respectful!”  This one rule encompasses so much that there is little need for other rules.  Self-respect, peer-respect, and respect for our room are essential to the success of this class.
