Individuals interested in running as a candidate for Seat No. 2 on the Edmond Board of Education may file from 8 to 5, Dec. 5-7 at the Oklahoma County Election Board located at 4201 N. Lincoln Boulevard. The election will be held Feb. 14, 2017.
Edmond’s school board is made up of five members who each serve a five year term. Current school board members are Lee Ann Kuhlman, Kathleen Duncan, Jamie Underwood, Cynthia Benson and Meredith Exline. Duncan’s term for Seat No. 2 is expiring. She is planning to seek re-election.

Candidates for a board seat must meet the following criteria:
- Live in the district
- Be a registered voter in the district
- Have a high school diploma or equivalency
- Not be employed by the district or have immediate family members employed by the district
- Have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving embezzlement
The Edmond school board typically meets on the first Monday of each month. Among other things, the board manages construction projects, education-related purchases and district policies.
