The sign-up period for Edmond Public Schools’ 2017-2018 pre-K programs is scheduled for April 10-21 at the district’s administrative center located at 1001 W. Danforth.
Children who are four-years-old but not older than five-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2017 are eligible for the programs which are held at all schools on a space available basis except for Angie Debo, Clegern and Russell Dougherty. Due to the need for additional classroom space, EPS is also offering a pre-K program at Creative Kids childcare center.
The district’s pre-K programs include the following:
- A free, half-day program (either morning or afternoon)
- A free, full-day program at Creative Kids, 2000 N.W. 150th.
- A tuition-based full-day program
- A free, full-day program at Title I Schools (Ida Freeman, Sunset, Orvis Risner and Will Rogers) Parents should go to the school site to enroll. Students must live in the designated school’s attendance area to attend the free full-day program.
Because the district’s elementary schools do not have equal number of pre-K classrooms, some children may attend a pre-K program at a school other than their home school where they will attend kindergarten.
Preschool applications will be available at the district office and school sites beginning April 10. All applications must be received at the district office on or before 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 21. The application process is not first-come, first-served, so parents do not need to stand in line the first day of the sign-up period.
If the number of applications exceeds the space available, a random drawing will be held to fill the classes and a waiting list will be created. If a drawing is held, an alphabetical list of the students’ names will be posted at all elementary schools, the district office, and on the district’s website beginning April 26.
