Edmond Public Schools will hold a Parent Information Meeting for the purpose of informing  5th grade parents and guardians about the state required HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Program.  This meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at the Edmond Public Schools Administrative Services Center, 1001 W. Danforth.

The HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Program is taught in grades 5, 7, 9 and 10.  The 5th  grade program is combined with “Growth and Development” and is taught by the Edmond Public Schools nurses at each elementary school. This program will be taught at your child’s school later this spring. The 7th, 9th and 10th grade programs were taught earlier this year.

At the Parent Information Meeting, a general overview will be presented to all parents.  Parents will have the opportunity to learn more about the specific content and be able to view the materials used at the 5th  grade level.

For parents unable to attend the Parent Information Meeting, curriculum materials are available for review. Parents may review the materials at Edmond Public Schools Administrative Center Curriculum Office, 1001 W. Danforth. Parents may check out videos for a 24-hour period beginning the morning following the parent meeting. Reservations for reviewing curriculum materials and for checking out videos can be made by calling Kim Robison at 340-2278.

Before your student will be allowed to participate in the HIV/AIDS Prevention Education instruction, a permission slip will need to be signed by a parent. This permission slip will be sent home by your child’s teacher prior to the class being taught.

Please contact Angela Grunewald, at angela.grunewald@edmondschools.net or 340-2294 if you have questions about this program.
