Graduating Teachers’ Recruitment Reception

Each fall, the district holds a Graduating Teachers’ Recruitment Reception. The informal reception provides an opportunity for seniors to learn more about the district’s teacher orientation, peer mentoring, competitive starting salary, and parental and community support.

Event Set for Nov 10 & Nov 12, 2020

College seniors who are pursuing a degree in education or special education and will be graduating in the fall of 2020 or spring of 2021 are encouraged to attend the Edmond Public Schools Graduating Teachers’ Recruitment Reception on Nov. 10 or Nov. 12.

The Nov. 10 reception is for seniors interested in working with elementary students. The Nov. 12 event is for seniors interested in working with middle and high school students. Both events will be held from 5:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the district’s Administrative Center, 1001 W. Danforth in Edmond.

Named a ‘Top Workplace,’ by the Oklahoman for four years in a row and home to more National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence than any other district in the state, Edmond will be hiring teachers to fill vacancies created by retiring educators as well as to staff Redbud Elementary opening in August 2021.

“We provide new teachers with an extensive induction program, peer mentoring, and superior professional development to help them achieve their classroom goals. In addition, our teachers receive unparalleled parental and community support,” said Associate Superintendent of Human Resources Randy Decker.

Decker added that prospective teachers will learn about the numerous supports, services, and benefits Edmond Public Schools can offer them. In addition, they will also have the opportunity to meet with administrators during socially-distanced round-table discussions.

All attendees will be required to wear masks. Tables will be placed six feet apart or more to ensure social distancing.

The event is free, but space is limited. Participants are encouraged to register at the following links:

Job Fairs

The district’s job fair is an opportunity to tell administrators about your credentials and let them know why you want to teach in our schools. Flyers and other publications that contain detailed information about the district are available for pickup at the job fair. The next job fair will be after the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

What Happens After the Job Fair

After the job fair, principals will review the resumes of prospective new teachers. They will check their notes from the job fair and discuss each prospective teacher’s strengths.

Check for Openings

Check here for new job openings. As soon as you see a position for which you qualify, submit your application. It will then become available not only to the principal at that school but to principals at other schools.
