College seniors who are pursuing a degree in education or special education and will be graduating in the fall of 2018 or spring of 2019 are encouraged to attend Edmond Public Schools Graduating Teachers’ Recruitment Reception. The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at the district’s Administrative Center, 1001 W. Danforth.

The event will give prospective educators the opportunity to network with administrators during round-table discussions and receive information about the district’s teacher orientation, peer mentoring and starting salary.

“This year, Edmond Public Schools became the first district in the state to offer first-year teachers a $40,000 starting salary,” said Chief Human Resources Officer Randy Decker. “In addition to offering our teachers a competitive wage, we also offer peer mentoring, classroom management training and summer professional development opportunities to help them be successful. If individuals are interested in teaching in Edmond, we encourage them to attend this reception to learn more about what Edmond has to offer.”

Named to The Oklahoman’s Top Workplaces list for the past three years, Edmond will be hiring hundreds of teachers next spring to fill vacancies created by teachers who are retiring. In addition, many 2019-2020 positions will be posted in December and early January.

Food, beverages and door prizes will be provided at the event. It is for graduating seniors and is free, but participants are encouraged to register by clicking on the following link:
