As recruiting and retaining a highly qualified teaching, administrative, and support staff is one of the most important aspects of a district, the EPS Board of Education voted at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting Thursday, September 16 to approve retention and recruitment stipends for all full-time and part-time employees.
“The Board and administration recognize the extraordinary challenges employees face as we move throughout this year. It is our hope that our employees know how valuable they are to their schools and this district,” said Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, Randy Decker.
The board approved a plan to provide two stipends, one for this November and one for the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. These stipends will be paid from federal ESSER funds and total $7,215,250 for
EPS will provide a $750 stipend for all full-time staff to be paid on the employees’ regular payroll, either November 20 for certified employees and administrators or November 30 for support employees. Part-time employees would be prorated based upon the percentage of full-time equivalent hours the employee works. Should the employee leave before the end of the 21-22 school year, but after receiving the stipend, repayment may be required.
Returning Employees – Provide $1,000 to all returning employees who sign their contract in the spring of 2022 to return for the 2022-2023 school year. Should the employee leave after receiving the stipend, repayment may be required.
New Employees – Employees beginning in the 2022-2023 school year would receive the stipend in two payments, November of 2022 and February of 2023. Should the employee leave after receiving the stipend, repayment may be required.
