Edmond Public Schools will continue to follow the mask guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Oklahoma County Health Department to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

At this time, the district will continue to follow its Return to School guidelines requiring the wearing of masks. Both the CDC and local health officials continue to state that the use of masks is crucial to reducing transmission of Covid 19 and should be part of a combined strategy that includes physical distancing, handwashing, and respiratory etiquette.

While a few smaller school districts surrounding the metro area have recently made masks optional, nearly all of our peer districts are keeping their current masking practices in place.

District administrators will continue to monitor CDC guidance and communicate with Oklahoma County Health officials to see if conditions or directives change from either of these two groups.

Because of smaller class sizes and a reduced number of students in the building, participation in the summer programs offered by Edmond Schools will not require masks. However, they will be allowed on a voluntary basis. The number of resulting student isolations and quarantines, and any updated guidance from our trusted health officials, will be among the factors taken into consideration when the district decides its mask practices for the 2021-2022 school year.
