Colonial Day at the Capitol provided a unique and enriching experience for our 5th grade students. To attend this event, the social studies teachers submitted an application, which included a paragraph outlining why our students should be chosen. We emphasized the value of hands-on learning as a means to deepen students' understanding of the Colonial Period and the American Revolution.

On the day of the event, students fully embraced the experience by dressing in Colonial attire. They actively participated in two debate sessions and attended three hands-on educational activities. It was incredibly rewarding to witness our students so deeply engaged in learning and to see their enthusiasm for the material.

Additionally, over 500 students participated in an essay writing competition, and our very own Redbud student, Piper Robertson was selected as the winner. She had the honor of reading her essay at the opening ceremony, marking a proud moment for both her and the school.
