Frontier has met the criteria to become a Certified Healthy Oklahoma School. Certified Healthy Oklahoma recognizes school sites that make a positive impact on the health of employees and patrons. Our contribution to creating a healthy environment is important to the future of Oklahoma.
Healthy School Oklahoma (HSOK) provides elementary schools funding, curriculum, training, evaluation tools, and support to Health and Physical Education teachers; focusing primarily on physical activity, nutrition, injury prevention, tobacco use prevention, and oral health education.
The mission of HSOK is to promote and maintain healthy lifestyle choices in Oklahoma through preventive, community-based, school health education programs for students and their families.
As a member of HSOK, Frontier works to promote healthy and active lifestyles by encouraging students and families to move more. We have a Running Club and a Jump Rope Club. We participate in community events like the Red Day Run and the OKC Kids Marathon.
With grant money from HSOK, Frontier can have an Action Based Learning (ABL) Lab where students are taught how to care for and keep their bodies healthy. The ABL Lab offers students a way to learn through movement.
Frontier has also been able to purchase equipment like 9 Square, bowling equipment, Spikeball, Jr., gymnastics mats, basketballs, soccer balls, and instructional materials to help students.
